Hello, Mi Fans,
The journey of Xiaomi has been been an extraordinary one, with so many achievements and broken records. Allow me to tell you about the time when Xiaomi’s Mi 3 crashed the site of the biggest e-commerce site in the country. That was the instance which made people stop and look at a company that entered the country just a month ago. It was the beginning of Xiaomi’s dominance in the online market and today we will tell the whole story
About Mi 3
In July 2014, Xiaomi launched its first device Mi 3 in India that created quite a buzz around in the smartphone landscape. The Mi 3 offers astounding features and specs considering its price range. In terms of performance, the device easily beat competitions in this budget. Mi 3 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8274AB Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz quad-core processor with Adreno 330 450MHz GPU, 2GB LPDDR3 RAM, and eMMC 4.5 flash memory. The Krait 400 architecture delivers 36 percent more processing power than its predecessor and 40 percentage more processing power than the Snapdragon 600.
Mi 3 has a Full HD 5-inch IPS display at 16:9 which helps to see crisp details in 1080p HD video or rich textures in 3D game environments. It also had a 13MP camera with dual-LED flash to take amazing photos in low light with a super-large Exmor sensor and a ƒ/2.2 aperture. The built-in Phillips dual-LED flash quickly adds the perfect lighting to make your subjects even more beautiful. It has a 3050mAh battery which has 30 percent more capacity than its predecessor. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4Ghz/5Ghz) gives you the room to go wireless and still enjoy high-speed Internet access. It came with MIUI V5 out of the box.
When Xiaomi Crashed Flipkart
Well, in the first post of the "#StoryOfXiaomi" series, we were talking about the legendary "Mi 3" only. Though it is a long and sort of funny story, we will try to keep it short and sweet. So here we go.
On July 22, 2014, over 500,000 users logged onto the Flipkart website trying to get their hands on a smartphone. The volume of traffic was about four times more than normal. This massive influx of visitors simultaneously browsing the website overwhelmed Flipkart’s servers and the site went under for a few minutes. Users vented their frustration on social media channels. Under fire, the engineering teams jumped into action and worked frantically to get the site back up. What caused this unprecedented online stampede? It was the Flipkart flash sale for the newly launched Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone.
