Hey MI-Fans,
We ever noticed that Manufactures launched their Flagship devices almost in every month. Purchasing a Mid-range Smartphone are much stronger than previous days. But nowadays people still love for using low budget phones.
  • But to support those smartphones Google launched a Project named Android GO. Since Android’s creation is to bring the power of computing to everyone. It’s a version of the operating system this time designed for basic, cheap phones.
So let’s began this topic,

What is Android GO?
Basically, Android GO is a lightweight version of the Android Oreo version which able to do task pretty fine for the low budget phones. The main compromise has been done on three components
OS: Great performance with improvements in storage and Security benefits included.
Google Apps: Redesigned of Google apps to be lighter and relevant to needs of people.
Google play store: A tuned app store which delivers apps according to need but also highlights the apps designed to work best on the device.

How will Android Go work?
  • Android GO Carries the same as features of Android Oreo as they work best on lower-end devices. As well as to focus on Google core apps optimizations like Gmail, Google Chrome, Google MAP to ensure they use low processing power, less storage, and mobile data.
  • The main highlights are the apps useless data, less storage on the top of the Google Play Store. The play store having a section says optimized your device that will only show the lighter version of the apps which made special for the device like Facebook, Skype, Whatsapp etc.
  • Which helps to use less data for downloading these apps and the GO also shows you how much data you've used to keep an eye on your remaining allowance.
  • Other services like Youtube GO, Files GO helps you to watch Youtube videos offline by downloading them by using WiFI which won't use any mobile data.
Features Of Android Go
As the name said, It consumes lower space than Android Nougat. This helps to have more space in lower-end devices.
Android Go has Flexible Targeting Feature which will help the Google Play Store to directly suggest the Lite- Apps for those low-end devices.
This has a built-in data saver system which helps the user to consume less data as lower-end device users prefer limited data packages.

What are the Minimum requirements to run Android GO?
  • As above mentioned Android GO designed to run on Lower-end phones so smartphones with less than 1GB of RAM can be able to run Android Smoother. Also, Mediatek confirmed that it will chipset partner with Android GO with its MT6739, MT6737, and MT6580 SoCs (system on chips).

How is Android Go different to Android One?
  • Android One is hardware specifically designed for Low cost, low spec hardware devices. Besides to hardware it has also specific rules in place for Android One’s key ideas.
  • Manufacturers released devices with Android one should be committed that they cannot modify the operating system with things like custom skins.
  • They also have to push Regular security updates as well Google essentially specific a maximum hardware spec for Android One handsets, and manufacturers have to go with that.
  • But on another hand, Android GO is the purely defined android software experience, designed to run on hardware with as little as half a gigabyte of RAM. It’s still Android Oreo but modified custom ROM for lower-end devices.
  • Both these Operating systems are designed to offering Google play store for downloading third-party Apps but with Android GO it will show you the only apps optimized to run on less powerful hardware. Those apps are specially designed which won’t be intensive or over 10MB in size, and they will happily work offline.
Android GO Apps
Google bound some GO apps with its Android Oreo go version for faster response and smooth experience.
These are some specific apps
  • Files Go
  • Gmail Go
  • Google Go
  • YouTube Go
  • Google Maps Go
  • Google Assistant Go
  • Google Play
  • Gboard
  • Chrome
Youtube GO is similar to basic Youtube which allows you to share videos via Bluetooth or a user can download them for offline viewing.
In another hand, Files GO is a brand new file explorer the able to free-up storage space, as well as letting users transfer files between devices wirelessly without consuming mobile data.
There is no any much difference in Google Chrome and Gboard compared to Original apps but having features like Data saving and multi-language support it shows its importance for Android GO devices.
As for the Google Play Store, this will look slightly different on Android Go devices to recommend apps for suitable for such handsets.
This will be the first time when Google assistant will work on devices with 1 GB of RAM.

What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Android GO
Advantages of GO
  • At the top, it offers manufacturers a chance to release Cheap phones with the latest software, which means most up-to-date Security patches and software out of the box.
Dis-Advantages of GO
  • There is no such bigger disadvantage with android GO, But as a light-weight version, the entire OS will have less feature compared to the device running the Original Oreo update. Also, it has a built-in data saver which may not load web pages properly. By which pixilated pictures and the overall web-surfing experience may not be rich.

Manufactures still competitors to launch their smartphones with Android GO. Some ran smoother than others, and some even had more free space than others. They can modify the User interface and can install extra apps.
Thanks for being here.
Hope this thread helps you.
