Hi Mi Fans
Hope you are all well
Mobile technology is now developed a lot. It must be running an operating system for seamless working collaborating with the hardware specs. Every time when a security patch or any specific system update is required, then the OEMs pushes an OTA update to its users.
In this thread, we are going to learn about OTA update
What is OTA?
OTA (Over-the-Air) update refers to various methods of distributing new software, configuration settings, and even updating encryption keys to devices like mobile, set-top boxes or secure voice communication equipment.
Types of OTA:
New Technology mobile devices run on A/B partition. A/B devices have two copies of each partition - A and B. Devices apply the OTA update to the currently unused partition while the system is running but idle. A/B devices do not need space to download the update package because they can apply the update as they read it from the network. A/B updates are also known as seamless updates.
Older devices have a special recovery partition containing the software needed to unpack a downloaded update package and apply the update to the other partitions.
How does OTA work?
The OTA process is self-explanatory in that it delivers updated software wirelessly or ‘over the air’. These updates are distributed over WiFi or mobile broadband using a function built into the smartphone or mobile device operating system or through a special OTA app that’s given root access. The update goes out to all the designated smartphones or mobile devices from one central control panel server.
Following are the way by which the update will be applied:What can OTA do?
