I had been using 9.2.4 since I got my hands on the RN5P. The rom was quite stable with a little bugs. Now, I have manually updated to almost bugless 9.5.13 and have been using it for last two weeks. Now, the areas I would like to compare the two updates are Camera, Battery, Ui fluidity and Performance.|
Camera : Of all the updates, the camera performance on 9.2.4 remains to be the best. With that siad, it's not bad on 9.5.13. The zoomed portrait pictures issue with nougat updates above 9.2.4 is gone. You have a zoom in/out option now. The front camera is no more laggy as on 9.2.4 and the other nougat based updates. The quality of the images is very good. The low light photography is even better than 9.2.4.
Battery : This has been one of the biggest concerns with all RN5P updates which came after 9.2.4 - draining battery quicker. So, out of all the nougat versions, 9.2.4 has the best battery backup. But after I updated to 9.5.13, my battery backup increased by more than an hour over 9.2.4 with the normal usage.
Ui fluidity : The ui is now more fluid than on 9.2.4. On 9.2.4, the ui stutters and lags at times when the device is low on ram. The device at times would freeze for sometime when I was on 9.2.4 but afrer I updated to 9.5.13, I haven't faced any lag whatsoever. I don't even close the applications and none of the applications are killed like on 9.2.4. The ram management is far better - always more than 2 gigs of ram is available out of 4 gigs. The animations work great and smoothly. The gestures have brought a new dimension to this device and each gesture works flawlessly.
Performance : The performance has improved a thousand folds over nougat. The device is very fast and snappy. I literally feel like I am using a flagship device considering the speed of the phone. The gaming performance has improved. But if you are a PUBG lover, you may want to stay on nougat because the high graphics and high frame rate option can't be opened in 9.5.13. Well, this is nothing Xiaomi can do anything about. It is Tencent that needs to fix it.
Final verdict : Don't wait, go for it. I know some of you will say that, it is not for the India version of RN5. Trust me, we are so lucky that there is almost a similar device running parallel with our device globally with nothing different except the camera. So, don't worry about the update being for the global version, just go for it.
