[News] Whatsapp To Stop Working On Some Devices Soon. Is Your Device On The List?

Hey MI Fans!
Whatsapp has recently announced that it will no longer support some devices as these do not have the capabilities that are needed to expand the app’s features.

A list of all the devices which will no longer be compatible with the messaging app has been published on WhatsApp’s mobile device support page. The page also states that though the mentioned operating systems will no longer be supported, some of them might lose services immediately, while in others some features might stop running at any time.

This decision will surely have a direct and immediate impact on a significant portion of their users. Now, the minimum requirement to run WhatsApp will be the Android 4.0, iOS 8 and Windows Phone8.1. The operating systems listed below are the ones that are no longer supported:
  • Android versions older than 2.3.3
  • Windows Phone 8.0 and older
  • iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
  • Nokia Symbian S60
  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10

For the following operating systems, you can no longer create new accounts. However, you'll be able to continue using WhatsApp on:
  • Nokia S40 until December 31, 2018
  • Android versions 2.3.7 and older until February 1, 2020
  • iOS 7 and older until February 1, 2020

If you currently use an older operating system, WhatsApp recommends upgrading to a newer version, or to one of the following:
  • Android running OS 4.0+
  • iPhone running iOS 8+
  • Windows Phone 8.1+

Once you have one of these devices, simply install WhatsApp and verify your phone number on the new device. Keep in mind that WhatsApp can only be activated with one phone number on one device at a time.

So! What do you think about this decision made by WhatsApp?
