Hello, Mi Fans!
If you’re on the hunt for activities to fill your summer calendar, Google is making it even easier to find events in Search. Last year they introduced a new way to look for events near you, and over the next few days, they’ll be adding new features to give you personal recommendations, along with more information about events that interest you.
#Google Local Events
Last May, Google launched a new Events feature designed to help web searchers more easily find things to do nearby, while also challenging Facebook’s dominance in the local events space. Working with event sites to make their content more easily searchable, events will populate when queries about activities in an area are entered into the search engine. These event sites include - Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, Meetup, Vividseats, Jambase, LiveNation, Burbio, Allevents, Bookmyshow, StubHub, Bandsintown, Yext and Eventful.
Now when you search for an event and tap on it, an overview will be presented that shows details like ticket cost, venue reviews, time, and location. You can save events to revisit later, or click through to buy tickets via various vendors like StubHub and Ticketmaster. The new update covers all types of events, like concerts, local festivals, cooking classes, and museum happenings.
Google is also making it easier to find events that fit your interests. A new 'For You' tab shows popular events in the area that fit your specific interests.
How to Use?
Search with terms like "events near me" or "free concert" and a list will be returned that aggregates from a variety of different sites. Tap any event you’re interested in and you’ll get an overview of things like time, location, ticketing providers and other information that will help you decide whether to attend.
If you’re ready to take the plunge, you can follow the links to buy tickets from the provider of your choice. If you’re still deciding, you can head to the event webpages for more information.
As users continue to click, browse and save events, the system will also be trained to know what sort of events users like. The For You tab organizes suggested events by category and will show users trending and popular events in the area. Google says its new events Search will roll out over the next few days.
