Hello Mi Fans...!!!
Good to see you all. Welcome to yet another session of the Custom ROM Series by the Device Team. To the ones who don't know about custom ROM series, in this series of threads, we The Device team members will try out different custom ROMS available for the devices and then review it here.

Today we are here to review a ROM which is very similar to MIUI. It is the MIUI Pro ROM for Redmi Note 5. This is a special ROM for the ones who would love a custom ROM but still can't help without MIUI. The ROM is presently based on Android Orea but the developer has notified that incoming updates, it will get Pie.

So without any ado, let's get started...

Disclaimer: Have a complete backup before flashing. I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, etc. Do this at your own risk

ROM review :

The ROM is very much equivalent to MIUI but has more features. The ROM is based on MIUI. The looks are not going to be strange for a MIUI user. It packs almost all features of MIUI. The most interesting fact about the ROM is the stability of the ROM. The ROM is really stable with almost zero bugs. Now let's discuss it in detail.

The home screen as a usual search bar at the top, and some icons on the bottom with an app dock at the bottom. The number of icons which can be added can be changed by changing the grid size. The icon and its shape can also be changed and has around 4 to 5 different icon packs as default.

Notification and Quick settings bar:
It is the same as that of MIUI. The regular sleek white colour with blue accent and the rounded quick settings. The notification bar has the network symbol which can be customised like LTE in place of 4G and HD in place of voLTE. The quick bar can be made dark in colour if we enable the dark mode.

Apps drawer :
There is no app drawer as such as that of MIUI ROM. The app list can be accessed by swiping from right to left from the home screen. The icons are round with customizations available. Different icon types are available, different grid size are available. Infinite scrolling feature can also be enabled so that we can swipe left all the way and returns back to the homepage.

Settings Menu:
The settings menu is very similar to that of MIUI. The classy white colour menu is always been the trademark for MIUI.

Software Version:
The ROM is on Android Oreo and the MIUI version is MIUI Pro 9.6.5. It Will receive updates regularly and the developer has announced the update with Android Pie will be rolling out soon.

Even though it is an MIUI based ROM, some inbuilt apps are not preinstalled. It has around 23 GB free after the flashing which is quite normal.

The battery is not very fascinating but it still gives a decent battery life and an average screen on time. I got a screen on time of around 4hours 55 min from 100% to 20% with playing PUBG in between.

App vault:
Like the traditional MIUI, it also holds the app vault which has many shortcuts, step counter, notes and many more which can be customized.

Button and gesture shortcut:
This option can also be seen in some versions of MIUI but in this ROM, it has many further options and customizations.

Navigation Bar and Gestures:

The gesture navigation option is the same as that of the MIUI. Either we can use the navigation bar with buttons or use the Full-screen gesture option as we do in MIUI

Homescreen and Recent settings:
This option is familiar in MIUI ROMs but in this ROM, there are more options such as endless scrolling, icon shadows, icon reflections, search bar enabling etc.
