Whoever is using Redmi devices, now facing issues related to low network strength, slow internet speed and poor call quality. This issue can be solved through a software update. Redmi should update its Baseband with better algorithms.
Generally, Redmi devices are lazy in terms of network frequency band switching even if the signal strength in a perticular band gets low. Redmi has to improve its signal reception and network band switching algorithm.
How these bands influence network performance? Let's dig a little.
Reliance Jio use three LTE bands
Band 40 works at 2300mhz and it can provide super high speed data transfer rate considering signal strength is excellent.
Band 3 works at 1800mhz and it can provide Very high speed date transfer rate considering signal strength is excellent.
Band 5 works on 850mhz and it can provide high speed data transfer rate considering signal strength is excellent.
These 3 band can be viewed in two different ways
Way 1. Data transfer rate: Band 40 Band 3 Band 5
Way 2. Signal availability: Band 5 Band 3 Band 40 (indoor)
If indoor signal strength is weak at Band 40 then you will get slow internet speed (very slow) at that time our device should switch network from band 40 to band 3/5 (whichever is available).
Redmi prefers Way 1 and that is the real issue. Redmi devices tends to stick Band 40 even in those areas where signals of band 40 are weak. Redmi devices take time in switching bands. Redmi should go for Way 2 tendency. That means if network strength goes below RSRP -102dbm then device should search for other available bands of that network with good RSRP/RSRQ/SINR/RSSI.
Samsung on the other side plays fair enough by sticking to Way2. That is the reason why samsung devices with less advanced LTE hardware specifications outperform Redmi devices in terms of internet speed specially in those areas where signals strength is low.

Average: -71dbm to -60dbm
Poor: below -70 dbm
