[Discussion] 64MP Vs 48MP: How it changes the game?

Xiaomi unveiled its new Note series lineup “Redmi Note 8 Pro” & “Redmi Note 8” on 16 October. The Redmi Note 8 Pro features 64MP Samsung's ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, on the other hand, Redmi Note 8 carries 48MP Samsung GM1 Ultra Resolution Lens. Both mobiles outperform the competition in their price segments.   However, have you ever wondered what is the difference between cameras of these two mobiles?

If the answer is Yes, then let’s get straight into the discussion,

Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with World's 1st 64MP AI Quad Camera Array that features the 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor. Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor uses 4-in-1 pixel binning tetra cell technology to merge 0.8-micron pixels into a single 1.6-micron pixel to offer detailed images in low light conditions. Along with it has DCG dynamic ISO technology that intelligently detects the scene and makes sure whatever the condition may be your image has the lowest noise levels ensuring clearer images. It can also shoot raw 64MP photos with the main sensor. Meanwhile, both the GM2 and IMX586 have a 48MP monochrome sensor with Tetra cell and Quad Bayer (4 in 1 Bayer) Filter respectively for their RGB that is both defaults to 12MP output. The only difference is the way both sensors convert the pixel array to create the 48MP images.

From the above picture, it is clear that the 64MP camera has 34% more pixels than a 48MP camera that means that it can capture the photos with the more detailed. However, without these results, the 64MP camera sensor in Redmi Note 8 Pro and 48MP camera sensor in Redmi Note 8 are capturing beautiful images with each detailed richly enhanced. Every part of the image is sharp and clear.

As you can see above, the 64MP sensor results in an image with a larger size i.e, you can zoom and crop the picture without compromising the quality of the image.
