In this new era of multimedia entertainment, battery life has been a top concern among many tablet users. While brands have been introducing different new features to tablets, many have yet to figure out how to sustain their battery performance. Thanks to our 6700mAh lithium-ion polymer battery and super energy-efficient NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, our Mi Pad now allows you to enjoy longer hours of gaming, web surfing and video streaming.

How long does it take to charge the Mi Pad? Our 6700mAh lithium-ion battery supports both 5V 2A and 9V 1.2A power inputs, and fully charges the Mi Pad in 4.5 hours and 3.5 hours respectively. Along with the super energy-efficient NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, our Mi Pad has one of the most impressive battery performance among the tablets.

Rather than doing another technical analysis (*yawns*), we think it’ll be more helpful to put the Mi Pad to test in various daily activities, including standby mode, gaming, web surfing, video streaming, music playback and other tasks that allow us to assess its battery performance.

Standby mode

Test device: Mi Pad

Battery capacity: 6700mAh (100% charged)

Software version: MIUI—4.5.16

Other basic settings: Connected to Wi-Fi, Screen display at maximum brightness

Test period: 1 day

Battery usage: 2%

We decide to test this feature first to find out how energy-efficient is the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. Our testing conditions including charging the Mi Pad to 100% battery power, adjusting the screen display to maximum brightness, and connecting to Wi-Fi throughout the entire test period. After testing over a day, the Mi Pad only used up 2% of battery power. Based on these conditions, the Mi Pad can have a battery life of up to 50 days!

Video streaming

Test period: 30 minutes

Battery usage: 4%

The Mi Pad features a 7.9’’ fully laminated HD display with 2048x1536 resolution and 326PPI (basically this means that you can’t use your naked eye to see the high concentration of pixels on your screen). This allows you to view the detail of every single frame when watching videos on your Mi Pad. Additionally, the 4:3 aspect ratio allows you to have a comfortable reading experience in both portrait and landscape modes. Given that only 4% of battery power was used in 30 minutes of testing, the Mi Pad can easily offer up to 11 hours of video streaming.

Music playback

Test period: 60 minutes

Battery usage: 1%

Not only does the dual speakers allow you to enjoy stereo effect, it also helps to boost the sound volume of your Mi Pad. Now you can play games, watch movies and listen to music crystal clear, even without wearing your earphones. The Mi Pad also features 108 speaker holes that are CNC milled for greater precision and long-lasting colour. Since only about 1% of battery power was used in 60 minutes of testing, playing up to 86 hours of music non-stop on your Mi Pad shouldn't be a problem too.

Reading

Test period: 30 minutes

Battery usage: 2.5%

Reading the Mi Pad is like reading a book — its lightweight and retina display offers a reading experience almost comparable to that of reading a traditional book. Not only does it support a variety of graphics and texts, but even complex-looking mathematical formulas and programming codes can be displayed wholly. Reading comics on a Mi Pad has never been more convenient thanks to its ability to view videos and photo albums within a book. Given that reading a comic for 30 minutes consume about 2.5% battery, you should be able to safely enjoy up to 17 hours of reading time.

Playing games

Test period: 15 minutes

Battery usage: 5%

Mi Pad uses the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor is built using the world’s most advanced Kepler GPU architecture found in next-generation PC gaming. Utilising 192 CUDA cores to deliver advanced graphics capabilities that is only available on PC, you can finally enjoy high CPU performance on-the-go now. Mi Pad also supports OpenGL 4.4, OpenGL ES 3.1 and other latest PC game technology, putting the virtual world in the palm of your hands. Given that it consumes about 5% of battery in a 15-minutes racing game, you should be able to go on a 5-hours non-stop racing marathon on the Mi Pad.

Now do you have a better idea of the battery life of our Mi Pad? Share your thoughts with us and let’s work towards building a better and improved Mi Pad together!

There is no doubt that Mi Pad has a tremendous battery back up. When I am out of juice, I use Mi Pad as powerbank.
