Xiaomi Ranked Worlds Number 1 In Face Detection Data Set And Benchmark!!
By paramgagan

Hi Mi Fans,

In 2015, one of the features we released in MIUI 7 was Baby Album, which allowed Mi Cloud to sort and group photos of your kids; this feature was not limited to just kids, Mi Cloud also let you sort your photos according to people based on our face detection algorithm. To date, 120 million photos are uploaded to Mi Cloud daily, with 50 billion photos total uploaded by users on Mi Cloud.MIUI's People album facial recognition algorithm is cloud based and will only sort your photos in Mi Cloud. The process is completely automated and the system doesn't know your identity, thus you don't have to worry about privacy

We never stop improving and innovating. Recently, the Xiaomi team, led by Wan Shaohua, used a new method called "Faster RCNN Bootstrapped by Hard Negative Mining" to get better results in face detection. They submitted their findings to University of Massachusetts' FDBB (Face Detection Data Set and Benchmark) studies, where it topped the charts in terms of performance. We often heard about Antutu Benchmark so what's FDDB? FDDB is data set of face regions designed for studying the problem of unconstrained face detection. You could say our method won the face off (lol)

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Hits 15% Distribution Ahead Of Nougat Rollout
By Akshay Singh

As rumors circulate that Android version 7.0 Nougat will be released before the end of the month, the last iteration of the operating system continues to roll out to more devices.
The Android distribution rates for August show that Android version 6.0 Marshmallow is now installed on 15.2 % of all devices, a 1.9% increase from July. Marshmallow is still lagging behind both Android version 4.4. KitKat and the two iterations of Lollipop (5.0 and 5.1), but limited progress has been made in the last month in terms of device distribution.

Android versions 5.0/5.1 Lollipop cumulatively touch 35.5% of all devices, a slight increase of 0.4% from July’s figures with the latter version reaching 21.4% of devices. The three-year-old Android 4.4 KitKat is still going strong and has a distribution rate of 29.2%, a decline of 0.9% from the previous month.
Apart from the slight changes in distribution figures, nothing much has really changed. The three versions of Android Jelly Bean (4.1, 4.2, 4.3) have a cumulative reach of 17.8% over all Android devices, which is the same as July.

The senior citizens of the Android operating system remain with us and are installed on enough devices to hit the 0.1% limit imposed by Google’s device data collection policy. Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread currently touch 1.6% and  1.7% of devices, respectively—the latter represents a drop of 0.2% from July. Android version 2.2 Froyo has refused to leave the stage and touches 0.1% of all devices.
