[News] Instagram Payments Feature Launched : Now You Can Shop Directly With in the App !!

Today i'am back with yet another intresting tech news. After adding the ability to make payments in Messenger and WhatsApp, Facebook has now been spotted testing a payments feature in Instagram - something the company has now confirmed. The new feature is reported to let users make purchases directly using the Instagram mobile app. Let's see more about this new Instagram payment feature in this thread. After Messenger and WhatsApp, Facebook is now bringing Payments feature to Instagram as well. We have come across several reports of Facebook testing to bring the payments feature to Instagram in the past. After a long testing process, the feature is slowly rolling out to users. With Instagram payments, Facebook is mainly looking out to take on Snapchat's Snapcash feature, which also let users shop within the app itself. Similarly, with payments feature coming to Instagram, users will now be able to shop without having to leave the app. TheInstagram payments feature is currently available only to selected users, however, we can expect the global rollout to happen very soon, most possibly in the next few months to come.

Instagram Payments lets you register a debit or credit card as part of a profile, set up a security pin, then start buying things without ever leaving Instagram. Not having to leave for a separate website and enter payment information any time you want to purchase something could make Instagram a much bigger player in commerce. The new payments feature on Instagram is visible for some users in the US and UK and payments are powered by Facebook's Payments rules. As the scope of payments via Instagram isn't as big as WhatsApp Payments as users on WhatsApp can use the built-in payments feature to transfer money to their contacts or to even pay for something they've bought offline, Instagram is reportedly set to use its native payments option to offer a seamless experience to its partners.

An Instagram spokesperson confirmed TechCrunch that the payments feature for booking appointments like at restaurants or salons is live for a limited set of partners. Further, restaurant booking app Resy has emerged as one of the early partners that offer a dedicated payments option for booking a table directly from its Instagram Page. This is notably available for some of Resy clients at the present stage, though. And in the future, Instagram says you can expect direct payments for things like movie tickets through the app. Instagram initially announced in March 2017 that “we’ll roll out the ability to book a service with a business directly from their profile later this year,” but never mentioned native payments.

The arrival of the payments feature certainly makes sense as Instagram is rigorously working to transform its platform from merely being a photo sharing network to a unified solution that hosts photos and videos and enables e-commerce operations. In 2016, Instagram started testing "Shoppable Tags" on its platform to help users find their favourite products directly from a post and then buy it from their brands' sites. The Facebook-owned company also notably has over 2 million advertisers, as of September 2017, who would get new business opportunities through the payments addition. Moreover, Instagram seems to make things difficult (once again) for Snapchat by enabling native payments through its platform.

“In fact, over 80 per cent of accounts on Instagram follow a business,  while 200 million Instagrammers actively visit the profile of a business every day As a result, the Instagram community is helping spur small business growth in big ways”. Instagram’s rival platform Snapchat recently introduced its “Shoppable AR” to its platform – a feature that allows advertisers to sell products directly through their sponsored lenses. In the recent past, WhatsApp added a payments option that is available in India and is based on UPI (Unified Payments Interface). Facebook Messenger also added a peer-to-peer payments feature by collaborating with PayPal.
