Google has released 3rd Developer preview of the upcoming Android P. With this release, Developers can begin testing and refining apps with the finalized P APIs and SDK. Android P is now officially API Level 28 with the final APIs allowing developers to finalize app features both for new as well as old OS. This build bring's a lot of new features as well as Optimzations.

All New Features

Quick Reply for bundled Notifications

Users can now quickly reply to compact

bundled notifications thanks to a new button at the right. Tapping takes users directly to a reply interface.

New Fingerprint Enrolment Animation

In DP3, the animation gets a fresh coat of paint.

Colorful lines race around the fingerprint image on the screen periodically when you're not touching the sensor.
As you tap on the sensor to train it, the image flashes with brighter Googley colors.

Downloads App renamed to Files-Again

After User Feeback the Files App is Now back to its orignal glory with brand new features.

157 New Emojis'

Android P tweaks the design of existing emoji to be more realistic.

Also adding new characters, including those that are more diverse and inclusive.

Recents & Gesture Navigation Advancements

For Gesture navigation google has listened to that feedback in DP3.

Issues like it being hard to just open the app drawer have been resolved by shortening the drag distance.
While the swipe gesture to quickly switch between apps is now smoother. Meanwhile, a new prompt guides users through the revamped gesture navigation system.

Clear All in Recents menu

As Promised by Google the new vertical Recents menu now has a “Clear all” button accessible by scrolling to the very left of the apps carousel.

Colors Menu Adds Preview Images

Matching the implementation of many device manufacturers.

Android will finally have a feature menu that allows users to quickly preview the different color modes.

BiometricPrompt API

Google has finally Brought the long Awaited API.

The new security API supports Face and Iris authentication, in addition to the standard fingerprint method, with Google noting that in-display sensors are also supported.
Developers will no longer have to build their own dialog in apps, and can instead rely on a new standard system dialog.

Adaptive Battery

Google partnered with Alphabet’s DeepMind on Adaptive Battery.

This is to prioritize system resources for a user’s most used apps. Enabling the machine learning feature will limit battery for apps that aren’t often used.

Android 9 and API Level 28

Google has officially confirmed that Android P will carry API Level 28.

Developers can begin readying apps for the consumer launch of Android P later this summer.
Meanwhile, in the “About phone” settings, the Android version is now listed as “9.”
