HI MI FANS,

Today I'm back with yet another tech news. Google Calendar is the latest Google app to get an update focused on improving users’ “digital wellbeing.” The company announced today it’s rolling out a new “Out of Office” feature in Google Calendar, alongside a setting for customizable working hours.  Let's see more about this news in this thread. So let's get started with this thread.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Google app to get an update focused on improving users’ “digital wellbeing.”
  • Google Calendar has added a 'Out of office' entry type.
  • There is also an option to restrict your working hours.
  • Both new developments will be available for all G Suite users.
  • Google Calendar will also try to infer your working hours based on your prior scheduling patterns.

Google Calendar has received a new 'Out of office' entry type and an option to customise working hours to help you better balance between your work and personal time. The latest additions come more than a month after Google announced its Digital Wellbeing initiative at I/O 2018 to let users intrinsically curb device addiction. In the future, the search giant is in plans to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) to enable the Calendar app to change the entry type automatically by taking the object and title entered into account.

The procedure to create an Out of office event is to select the Out of office Calendar entry type when creating an event on the web. The Out of office object will have a different look on the Calendar grid, signalling to others that the user is unavailable. Google Calendar will also automatically decline meetings that occur during this time period. Users can customize the decline message and the visibility of the title of their out of office object. Also, Calendar will try to intelligently detect when users are creating out of office object based on the title entered and thus change the type automatically going forward. However, users will be able to manually change this if they want a different entry type.

Alongside the updates to help you mark your absence on your work calendar, Google Calendar has also added the ability to restrict your working hours. This means once you've set your working hours to one interval for all days of the week, you won't receive any meeting requests outside of those hours. People who try to schedule meetings with you beyond your working hours will receive a message that you're not available at that time. "Based on your timezone and past scheduling patterns, Google Calendar can now infer your working hours. You may see a prompt asking you to set them, and you can further customise them as needed," the Google Calendar team said while elaborating on the working hour development.

In recent months, the company has introduced a number of features focused on helping people better manage their time, and fight back against the addictive nature of smartphones and digital services. Finally, Google Calendar can now infer users’ working hours based on their timezone and past scheduling patterns. Users may see a prompt asking them to set the working hours, and they will be able to customize them to their needs. The Out of office entry type and working hours feature will debut for all G Suite users in the next few days.

So Mi Fans this all about the latest update feautures rolled by Google for Goolge Calendar. If you need more information regarding this thread please click on the source links given below. Let me know your thoughts and comments about this thread in the comment section below.
