Xiaomi on Thursday unveiled its latest giant phone, the Mi Max 3. Powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor backed by up to 6GB of memory, the phone boasts a huge 6.9-inch, 18:9 display with a 2,160x1,080-pixel resolution. The Mi Max 3 is also a powerful device, even more so for its price. It is rocking the same core hardware as the much popular Redmi Note 5 Pro, but its main USP is said to be its massive 5,500mAh battery that also supports fast and parallel charging. Here's a closer look at everything that the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 brings to the table.
Processor: The Mi Max 3 is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor clubbed with Adreno 509 GPU. This is the same core hardware that's inside the Redmi Note 5 Pro also.
RAM: 4GB, 6GB
Internal storage: While the 4GB RAM version of the Mi Max 3 comes with 64GB storage, the 6GB RAM version will come with 128GB storage. Both the versions support expandable storage via a micro-SD card slot.
Display: The Mi Max 3 comes with a 6.9-inch full-HD+ IPS display with a 2160x1080 pixel resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Rear camera: The Mi Max 3 has a vertically aligned dual camera system on the rear consisting of one 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Both the sensors have f/1.9 aperture and the system is assisted by an LED flash.
Front camera: On the front, the Mi Max 3 comes with an 8-megapixel camera with 'soft' LED flash.
Software: The Mi Max 3 runs Android Oreo-based MIUI software.
Battery: The Mi Max 3 is backed by a massive 5,500Mah battery. It supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 and also parallel charging which means that you can continue to use the device even while charging. The phone charges over USB Type-C.
Xiaomi has launched the Mi Max 3 in China at a starting price of RMB 1,699 which roughly translates to Rs 17,320. This is for the base 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version of the Mi Max 3. The top-end version of the Mi Max 3, with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, has been priced at RMB 1,999 which roughly translates to Rs 20,375. The Mi Max 3 will be available in as many as three colours: Meteorite Black, Dream Gold and Dark Blue, and will be available for buying in China from July 20.
