Hey, Mi Fans!
In this constantly developing era in the Technology field, we want our smartphones with security and speed. We unlock our phone uncountable times in the day and we expect it to unlock fast. But how do we unlock it nowadays? Using Biometric Recognition System. From the beginning of the biometric recognition system, the fingerprint is the most reliable recognition system around the world. But, with the advent of biometric technology, more technologies are giving tough competition to Finger Print Scanners on Smartphone. The Most Prominent one is Face ID Or Face Recognition Method as Biometric.
Today we will compare both the Biometrics in few aspects and then you decide which one do you/will you prefer more on your smartphone? So, let's get Started.
This one is trending nowadays, isn't it? This feature uses the front camera of the device to take a photo of your face and then it uses that photo as a baseline to unlock your device. Here, lighting has to be ideal for the front camera to be able to take a picture of your face. Many of us find it so exciting to just look at the phone and it unlocks? But there also cons with the pros. First of all, it has a questionable level of security.
It doesn’t take in-depth details of the features of your face so false matches are likely, your look alike or your twin(if you have) might be able to unlock your device. At the same time, in some devices, even if you unlock your device by facial recognition, you still need to swipe on the screen which makes it a two-step process, unlike the fingerprint where you just need to scan your finger.
Finger Print Recognition:
This is the most widely adaptive methods in smartphones. It is fast, it unlocks the smartphone in one step. Still how well it works depends on a few factors, like the quality of the sensor and its placement. It will depend upon how's the fingerprint reader in your smartphone which varies a lot between devices, as well as its scratch-resistant surface.
As for security, this is probably the most secure method to date. That’s because it’s quite difficult for a fingerprint reader to be easily hacked. Every person has a unique fingerprint so even your twin or look- alike can not unlock your device. Furthermore, the sensors are developed to recognize body heat and blood movement of the user, which means you can’t use a “dead” finger to unlock an Android. Plus, most of the mid-budget phones don't have facial recognition but they do have fingerprint readers.
So friends, which one do you prefer/will you prefer more on your smartphone? Fingerprint Or Facial Recognition?
