Hello Mi Fans,

In today’s era of full-screen mobile phones( including 18:9 aspect ratio display), the importance of full-screen gestures is increased.
MIUI introduced its own full-screen gesture control for its full-screen devices. It simplifies the navigation controls with simple's one of the best MIUI features nowadays.

Do you want to taste/experience this feature?
Go to Settings -- Full-Screen Display -- Enable Full-Screen Gestures.

To know more about the full-screen gesture and FAQ click here.

unfortunately, this MIUI feature is only available on full-screen devices.

Don't you have any full-screen device?
Do you want to experience this feature?
If yes follow my steps to enable that.

Your device must have :

1) Unlocked Bootloader. If your phone not unlocked yet, follow this Guide
2) Root access
3) You must be on latest MIUI Global/China Beta(8.3.1 or above) or Stable(9.5 or above)
4) Any Root Explorer (I used ES file explorer)

Follow the steps

First we need to enable on-screen navigation button for getting full-screen gesture settings.

Step 1: Using any root explorer goto /system directory and backup the build.prop file.
Step 2: Open the build.prop file( which is in the /system directory) with any text editor and add this line to end of the build.prop and save the file.
  1. qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Copy the Code
or find the qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 code in the build.prop file and Replace the 1 with 0 , after save the file.

Step 3: Reboot the device.

Now you got on-screen navigation button in your device.
Go and check the settings app for full-screen display settings.
Before enable that,

Please note this, your capasitive navigation buttons are not disabled.
For ease of use of full-screen gesture, you must disable your capasitive navgiation buttons.

To disable that follow the steps.

Step 4: Open any root explorer and go to /system/usr/keylayout directory.
step 5:Make a backup of your original Generic.kl
step 6: Open the Generic.kl file(which is in /system/usr/keylayout directory) with any text editor.
step 7: Find out the following codes in the this file.
  1. key 139 MENU
  2. key 158 BACK
  3. key 172 HOME
Copy the Code

step 8: Put # symbol on these codes like below :
  1. #key 139 MENU
  2. #key 158 BACK
  3. #key 172 HOME
Copy the Code
After change the code save the file and reboot the device.
step 9 : Now you are permenently disabled your capasitive navigation buttons.
step 10:Go to Settings -- Full-Screen Display -- Enable Full-Screen Gestures and enjoy this feature.
Note: There is chance for getting settings app crashing while learning gesture demos in full-screen settings.

Enjoy your device with full-screen gesture{:4_119:}
