Hello Mi Fans!
Ride in style with the Novus Electric Carbon Fiber Motorcycle. This unique bike is a mix between a performance motorcycle and a compact electric bicycle. Made out of carbon fiber, the Novus is incredibly strong and durable. It also features an aperture that sits where a combustion engine would on a standard bike. Sitting in the frame’s base is the battery, while the brushless motor rests over the back wheel. In addition, the Novus can reach top speeds of 60 miles per hour. It can also cover 60 miles on a single charge.
On the front of the bike are a pair of brakes and handlebars just like on a bicycle, along with a smartphone cradle. Embedded into the frame is the rear suspension, which gives the Novus a different look than your typical bike. Furthermore, the app allows you to use your phone as a key, GPS and speedometer. NOVUS electric motorcycle design form is really nice and fluid, and we can see the future add-ons for that empty space in the middle of the frame if this product hits the market. NOVUS did take a lot of time to study the aesthetics of this design, and tried to make something new and different. Novus claims their hub motor has 200 Nm, but we are pretty sure this 205 electric hub motor type tops around 150 Nm even with 45 – 50 mm magnets.
Features of Novus:
Engine: The brushless hub motor transforms the energy of the high-voltage battery into a top speed of 60 mp/h.
Frame: The unique carbon fiber monocoque-frame is at the same time supporting skeleton and shaping outer skin.
Battery: The purpose-built lithium-ion battery gives NOVUS a maximum range of 60 miles.
Front suspension: The specially developed carbon fiber front fork with its central strut blends seamlessly into the design of NOVUS.
Rear Suspension: The rear suspension is integrated almost invisibly into the frame and the swingarm.
Brake: When the carbon fiber brake levers are actuated, the ultra-light monoblock calipers grip the 230 mm brake discs.
Lighting: The LED front light is integrated directly into the stem in the smallest possible space.
Check out Novus:
The most visually striking component of the NOVUS electric motorcycle is the frame. A carbon monocoque, it performs doubly duty as both the structural exoskeleton and elegant body of the bike. It is also much lighter than steel, aluminum or any exotic frame material. The rear motor is a direct-drive hub motor that the company claims puts out 200 Nm of torque. If true, that would make it one of the torquiest electric motorcycles ever. For reference, the Curtiss Zeus has only 196 Nm of torque, which provides it a 0-60 mph time of 2.1 seconds. So 200 Nm might be a bit of a stretch here. Even so, at 14 kW peak power, the NOVUS motor packs quite a punch as it powers the 85 lb (39 kg) bike up to its maximum speed of 60 mph (97 km/h). That top speed means the NOVUS electric motorcycle is best employed as an urban assault bike or for cruising on winding back country roads.
The makers claim that the motor has a torque of 200 Nm, although reviewers doubt this value since the Curtiss Zeus has a more powerful motor at 149 kW and claims 25 per cent less torque, meaning that the Novus would have to be quite extraordinary in this regard. Other design features include a stitched leather seat, LED lights that are discreetly fitted into the minimalist design, and a smart-phone can be integrated not only as a control and display instrument but also as a digital key.
