Xiaomi has launched its first flagship series Redmi K20 series in Redmi series in China on 29th May. The event started with Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing sharing the Redmi's journey as an independent brand.
At the beginning of the event, Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro were introduced.
Redmi K20 Pro
It has a red and black gradient at the back and a glass and metal body was revealed first. Depending on the light it reflects more colors as well with tones of purple, orange. The phone has a 3D gradient at the back, which reveals a rich color hue, almost like a rainbow depending on the shifting of the light. There's also an ice blue variant of the Redmi K20 Pro which does something similar. Another variant is the carbon fiber black colored one. There are many videos already circulating in social media about hands-on of these phones.
Redmi K20 Pro has a full-screen display with ultra-thin bezels and a 91% screen-to-body ratio. The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner as well. It has a 6.39-inch display with a full HD+ resolution, it has an AMOLED display as well. The display aspect ratio is 19.5:9 with 600 nits of maximum brightness. This display also comes support for HDR content.
Redmi K20 Pro comes with a 7th generation in-display optical fingerprint scanner. It is way faster and efficient when it comes to unlocking the phone. The front camera is customized for lifting sound effects as well and there are six different kinds of sound effects to choose from. Redmi K20 Pro comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor. This is a 7nm chipset and has the Adreno 640 GPU for better graphics. Antutu score for the phone is more than 380,000. The phone comes with 8 layer graphite cooling technology to keep the phone running for long even you are gaming. The phone has a three dimensions cooling structure, which is double-sided.
The phone has a triple camera on the rear side. This has a 48MP Sony IMX586 camera, an 8MP telephoto sensor, and a 13MP wide-angle sensor. The 8MP sensor has f/2.4 aperture, the 48MP camera has an f/1.75 aperture, while the 13MP sensor has f/2.5 and a 124.8-degree field of view. The front camera is 20MP on the Redmi K20 Pro. The front camera also supports a wide-angle mode. The Redmi K20 series front camera rises smoothly in around 0.8 seconds.
The Redmi K20 Pro comes with NFC support as well. And there's a 4000 mAh battery. Redmi K20 Pro also comes with AI smart optimization to make the phone's battery last longer. It also comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and with support for Hi-Fi audio.
The phone is packed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor. The Redmi K20's 730 processor has its own AI engine and comes with support for the new WiFi 6 standard. The Redmi K20 has almost the same specs as the Redmi K20 Pro, except for the Snapdragon 855 and the rear camera having different Sony IMX582 sensor. This one also has 18W charging compared to the 27W fast charging on the Redmi K20 Pro.
Redmi K20 Pro starts at Yuan 2499 going up to Yuan 2999. The Redmi K20 starts at Yuan 1999.
Redmi K20 Pro is also available in Avengers Special edition. This has a limited edition gift box with the Avengers 4 metal theme card and a limited mobile phone case.
The next highlight of the event was the launch of RedmiBook 14, which is a new laptop under Redmi sub-brand. RedmiBook 14 has an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor. It has NVIDIA GeForce MX250 for graphics. It also has two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
RedmiBook 14 8GB RAM and 512GB version come with a price tag of Yuan 4999 whereas the 256GB variant of the RedmiBook 14 with the Core i5 processor will cost Yuan 3999. The 512GB version of this with the Core i5 processor will cost Yuan 4299.
