Xiaomi released the Mi 6 smartphone with new features and improvements. With the official launch of Xiaomi Mi 6, we have been hearing reports about the kind of technology infused into the premium smartphone.

According to MobileIDWorld, the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 6 features an FPC1268 fingerprint sensor technology. Hence, you can infer that the Lei Jun-headed company is making use of fingerprint cards for the implementation of the biometric capabilities in smartphones.

The FPC1268 Touch Sensor in mounted in an invisible position under a layer of glass or ceramic material. The FPC1200 series fingerprint integrates FPC OneTouch sensors to cater to the requirement of the latest design technology including biometric performance and security.

The smartphones manufactured sing FPC sensors make use of low power paired with square or rectangle options. The sensors can be mounted either on the front or side depending upon the layout of the device.

Commenting on the development, Ted Hansson, Senior Vice President, FPC disclosed that the integration of the FPC1268 by Xiaomi is as a result of our increased focus on under glass deployments. However, this is not the first time the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has adopted the FPC technology. In the past, Xiaomi had integrated the similar technique with the bezel-less Mi Mix.

Xiaomi is the second smartphone manufacturer to leverage the benefits of FPC's new sensor model technology exclusively designed for under-glass applications. Previously, Huawei had implemented the technology in one of its handsets in 2016.

Recently, the FPC has announced the deployment of its FPC1035 sensor with an unknown Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer. The FPC also announced a partnership with Micromax. Going forward, we can expect the integration of more FPC sensors in the upcoming Xiaomi smartphones.
