Hello Mi Fans,
Welcome to yet another thread from the Device team. Today, we will discuss the new Mi A3 and how it is different from its successor the Mi A2. We will have a clean comparison between them in every aspect starting from design to performance. So without any further ado, let’s get started.
Mi A3: When the best of Google and the best of Xiaomi comes together.
Mi A3 features impressive hardware and innovations from Google to offer a complete smartphone experience. Featuring an unmatched Smart AI Triple camera setup of 48MP + 8MP + 2MP on the rear, this smartphone delivers clearly detailed pictures, no matter what the scene. The distinctly superior Super AMOLED display allows viewing of images, videos and more in high definition. Running on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 665, it offers the speed and convenience need for any smartphone activity.
The design and build:
Xiaomi Mi phones are always known for their sleek and minimalistic design and good build quality. Mi A2 and the new Mi A3 is no different. But comparing both them we can understand a change in trend from a full metal body to a glass back design with metal frames. Mi A2 has a full metal unibody with an ultra-thin design and a grippy texture.
Mi A3, on the other hand, comes with a glass sandwich design with corning’s gorilla glass protection on both front and rear. It has a dynamic holographic design The new design looks even more premium than before and the feel of holding it is indescribable. The new glass design also comes with nano-level graphic patterns, reflective coating, and a colour layer to make it even more attractive.
This feature is one of the things that has surprised the users. The jump from an LCD screen to a SUPER AMOLED display is much more a shock to the smartphone world as it brings such a feature to a budget price range. Mi A2 came with a 15.2cm (5.99) FHD+ large LCD display with a wider field of view compared with its predecessor and also has an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Meanwhile, the Mi A3 comes with a 15.4cm (6.08) Super AMOLED Display which features a wide colour gamut resulting in vibrant true-to-life images. The high contrast and reduced light refraction yield visuals that are clear and crisp. It is the first time that Xiaomi has gone for an AMOLED panel for a budget device.
It is also a huge upgrade as far as the Mi A series phones are concerned. Mi A2 had a battery capacity of 3010mAh and was very efficient as it was an Android one device with minimalistic design and zero junkware.
But in Mi A3, Xiaomi has leapt over our expectations to offer a massive 4030mAh battery. The bigger battery along with the Super AMOLED display and super-efficient processor offers around 20 days standby time, 30 hours of call time and 13 hours of continuous gaming. It also supports 18W fast-charging to recover the full battery in no time.
The Processor :
If you are a tech maniac this would be the most interesting part. Mi A2 came with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SOC which is one of the best in business in the mid-range segment during its time. It had 14nm FinFET processor which exhibits high performance and consumes less power and the Adreno™ 512 high-performance GPU generates life-like visuals. It is clocked up to 2.2Ghz clock speed for consistently robust performance It made the device run like a beast on whatever task given to it say it camera processing, gaming, battery efficiency and anything you can think of.
Mi A3, on the other hand, has leapt even further by featuring the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Soc packing quite the punch. The Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 665 delivers the power you need for superior gaming or browsing experience. With 11nm technology, this processor helps save battery for uninterrupted work and play. It also comes with Kryo™ 260 CPU and Adreno™ 610 GPU for easily managing day-to-day activities and any games thrown at it.
The Mi A2 was a beast in the camera category as well. It has a 12MP + 20MP AI dual rear camera to offer clear images both in the day as well as at night. The Smart lens selection relies on Sony light sensors and the ƒ/1.75 large aperture to choose the best lens for your setting. It makes possible to take clearer daytime photos with the 12MP lens and large 1.25μm pixels. The low-light photos are brighter with the 20MP lens and 4-in-1 Super Pixel, based on pixel binning technology. Ultra-large 2μm pixels multiples light-sensitivity around 4times. It also had a 20MP Selfie AI camera for clicking excellent selfies and portrait shots.
The newer Mi A3 has an even better camera sensor. This time Xiaomi has gone with the new 48MP AI Smart Triple Camera with Sony IMX586 sensor 1.6μm 4-in-1 Super Pixel 6pcs lens, ƒ/1.79 1/2 inch sensor size, as the primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera which offers a field of vision (FOV) of 118°, ƒ/2.2, and a 2MP depth sensor for taking excellent portraiture shots. It also features a stunning 32MP selfie AI camera with AI scene recognition, palm shutter feature etc.
There are also some small upgrades that make the new Android one device even better. Mi A2 has a very fast and accurate capacitive fingerprint scanner at the rear. With the new Mi A3, Xiaomi has opened a new window in fingerprint scanning in a budget device. Since it has the Super AMOLED display, it is capable of an in-screen fingerprint scanner and Xiaomi had no hesitance in implementing it. The In-screen fingerprint scanner is really fast as it has the new 7th generation fingerprint scanner for an accurate and quick response.
Mi A3 has all the features a budget device should have. It also comes with the 3.5mm headphone jack which was missing on the Mi A2. It even has better google integration for better and easy access. It also has the new P2i Small proof protection from accidental splashes and water spilling.
That's all for today friends…!!!
