Basically, the Mi Smart Water Purifier is an IoT device that connects to smartphones to keep you updated with all the necessary information regarding what's happening inside the purifier as well as the status regarding various parameters. The details can be monitored using the Mi Home app which is available for both Android and iOS smartphones.

In this thread, we will take a closer look at the various options and features that we get on the Mi Home App to monitor the Mi Smart Water Purifier. If you haven't yet done connecting the purifier with the Mi Home app, then this video can help you to complete the process.

Assuming that you have done setting up the water purifier and connecting it with the Mi Home App, let's go ahead and explore the options that we get inside the app. If the water purifier is a newly installed one or the filter-cartridges have been recently replaced, then you will
probably be on a screen with the warning as shown below.
Here as you can see there's a warning saying that "Filter is Flushing". This means that the water from the purifier is not yet ready to be consumed. Once the warning is gone, you can start using the purifier as normal. When the purifier is functioning as normal, the data displayed on the app will be similar to the one shown below.
As you can see, the interface is designed in such a way that all the necessary information that you need regarding the water purifier can be seen with a quick glance at the app. The primary focus of any water purifier is the purity of the water that you are getting from it, and hence the 'Output water TDS' that shows the quality of water after purification is given the topmost priority inside the app. In the above screenshot, you can see that the TDS is 38ppm. As you can note from what's written in the app, this means that the water is of excellent quality. The text saying "Sterilizing" indicates that the UV sterilization process is currently in progress. Curious about what the TDS was before purification? then yes! you can check that as well. The 'Tap Water TDS' parameter that is displayed at the top part of the screen lets you know this.

Real-Time Filter Monitoring
The real-time filter monitoring is the next part that we will be discussing. It is a very useful and important feature that the Mi Water Purifier has to offer. You can easily check and keep track of how much of the filter life is remaining and hence can be aware of when a filter replacement is going to be needed.
From the previously shown screenshot itself, we can see that the information on how much of the filter's life is remaining is being displayed. Taping each of them will provide further information about each individual filter.

  • The PPC Filter (Polypropylene Cotton + Activated Carbon) is the first one among these. The PPC filter effectively intercepts large and visible particles, and deeply adsorbs residual chlorine, color, odor, organic matter and other harmful substances in the water.
  • The RO Filter (Reverse Osmosis Filter) comes next. It is responsible for effectively filtering out heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, organic matter, and other impurities. Hence, it turns out to be the core component in filtering water and is comparatively more expensive.
  • The PAC Filter (Post Activated Carbon Filter) comes next. It is used to absorb odor and organic substances from the water. Furthermore, it can effectively improve the taste.
You will be notified in the app if any of these filters are running out or are going to expire soon, like the one as shown below.

Worried about where to get a replacement filter cartridge? Well, the Mi Home app itself has got you covered. In corresponding screens of each filter, you can find a 'Buy' button at the bottom which will let you buy the replacement filter-cartridge online. The process of installing the new filters are really simple and you can do it yourself in quite a small amount of time.

Purified water volume details
Details about the purified water volume can also be monitored in the app. The details are available on per day, week and per month volumes details, so you can find the volume of water that was filtered by the purifier on each day, week or month.

So, that's all for today's thread dear Mi Fans.

I hope this would have given a clear idea about the features that are available to monitor the Mi Smart Water Purifier using your smartphone. The Mi Smart Water Purifier is available at a price of ₹11,999. As I said in the beginning, all these smart and advanced features along with a solid pricing make the Mi Smart Water Purifier a step ahead of the competition.
