Just as 5G is the new network standard, there is a new generation of Wi-Fi technology called Wi-Fi 6.  Wi-Fi 6 brings speed improvements (9.6Gbps, compared to 3.5Gbps for Wi-Fi 5).  Yesterday, Xiaomi announced its first Wi-Fi 6 router, namely Mi AIoT Router AX3600 and Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.
The Mi AIoT router AX3600 is a flagship router powered by Qualcomm's IPQ8071A chipset and paired with 512MB of RAM and 256MB of storage.  The chip has four Cortex-A53 cores and a clock frequency of 1.0GHz.  It also has a 1.7GHz dual-core NPU for network acceleration, which is why it is sold as a 6-core chip.  Xiaomi says it can connect up to 248 devices to the router.

The router has 7 high-gain antennas.  One antenna is an IoT device antenna, two are 2.4GHz antennas, and the remaining five are 5GHz antennas.  The device can be connected via a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network.  Xiaomi said that the AIoT antenna also supports dual frequency and provides speeds up to 150Mbps for IoT devices.  Compared to Mi Router AC1200, the new router is 155% faster.

The router also supports OFDMA technology (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access), which allows the router to send data to multiple end devices using only one transmission.  Other routers that do not support OFDMA must send data through multiple transmissions, which reduces efficiency.  However, the terminal equipment must also support OFDMA.

Mi AIoT Router AX3600 works with Mijia app and it is very easy to set up.  The device automatically detects the IoT devices around you and allows you to set up one-click configuration for easy connection.  You can also use the dedicated WiFi application, which has now been updated to version 5.0, which has new features such as real-time notifications when the device is connected or disconnected from the network.

The router supports WPA3 security protocol and IPv6.  It has four Ethernet ports on the back and comes with a 12V 2A power adapter

The new router costs 599 yen (about $ 86) and is black.  It can be booked on Mi.com, but there is no information on when to start shipping to the owner.
