What is Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi is a technology for wireless local area networking with devices based on the IEE 802.11 standards. Wi-Fi can be used on many devices such as mobile phones, pc, laptops, digital cameras, etc. When Wi-Fi compared to mobile hotspots wifi has a better range when compared to hotspots.Wi-Fi considers/uses 2.4 gigahertz (12 cm) UHF and 5 gigahertz (6 cm) SHF radio bands.
How does it work?
Wi-Fi network makes use of radio waves to transmit information across a network. The computer should include a wireless adapter that will translate data sent into a radio signal. This same signal will be transmitted, via an antenna, to a decoder known as the router. Once decoded, the data will be sent to the Internet through a wired Ethernet connection. As the wireless network works as a two-way traffic, the data received from the internet will also pass through the router to be coded into a radio signal.
The first version of 802.11 protocol was released in 1997, and provided up to 2 Mbit/s link speeds. This was updated in 1999 with 802.11b to permit 11 Mbit/s link speeds, and this proved to be popular. In 1999, the Wifi alliance formed as a trade association to hold the Wi-Fi trademark under which most products are sold. Wi-Fi uses a large number of patents held by many different organizations.In April 2009, 14 technology companies agreed to pay CSIRO $1 billion for infringements on CSIRO patents This led to Australia labeling Wi-Fi as an Australian invention,though this has been the subject of some controversy. CSIRO won a further $220 million settlement for Wi-Fi patent-infringements in 2012 with global firms in the United States required to pay the CSIRO licensing rights estimated to be worth an additional $1 billion in royalties.In 2016, the wireless local area network Test Bed was chosen as Australia's contribution to the exhibition a history of the world in 100 objects held in the National musueum of Australia.

Wi-Fi has various uses other than just using it for internet service on your device. There are many wireless printers which work over wifi which means you can directly print directly through your phone or pc easily. Other than this you can use wifi to sync your important data. With the help of Wi-Fi you can also hear to music or stream videos on youtube,which is the main thing i do over Wi-Fi . With the help of Wi-Fi you can also play variety of online games.
We talked about Wi-Fi but we did not talk how can we use it. Wi-Fi can be used with the help of routers such as the Mi Router 3C. Setup the router and you are done. Just go to your phone, settings- Wi-Fi and connect to your wifi and enjoy services. The speed of your Wi-Fi depends upon the plan to which you have subscribed. There are many popular brands like Xiaomi which is known for it's performance. Many gadgets use wifi like Mi Wi-Fi speaker,360 degree camera, Wi-Fi amplifiers, mouse use Wi-Fi and work without wires.You can use Mi Wi-Fi exdender to extend the Wi-Fi network at your home. If you live at a big house then that might be helpfull. You can also use IP camera through Wi-Fi such as the Mi IP camera.
Security is very important when it comes to internet. The most common types of wireless security are Wired quivalent protection(WEP) and Wi-Fi protected Access (WPA). For basic security you can apply Wi-Fi passwords.so that no one cannot connect to your Wi-Fi connection and use your internet access. WPA2 uses an encryption device that encrypts the network with a 256-bit key so that no one can hack your wifi network. Security is being increasing over some time now. There are certain risks iin which some hackers can hack your Wi-Fi connection and use it, so you need to be careful regarding that. If you have a Mi router then you can easily download a app from playstore known as Mi Wi-Fi and scan QR code on router and you are good to go.Through the app you can apply password to your router and also check who is connected to your wifi and also remove someone from connecting to your WiFi network if you don't want him to be connected and use your connection
Postive things about Wi-Fi
The main advantage of Wi-Fi you can work without much wires. This is a wireless connection that can merge together multiple devices. Wi-Fi network is particularly useful in cases where the wiring is not possible or even unacceptable. Wi-Fi is mostly used in halls or conferences where various devices can connect. It is ideal for buildings that are considered architectural monuments of history, as it excludes the wiring cables Wi-Fi networks are widely used to connect a variety of devices, not only between themselves but also to the Internet. And almost all modern laptops, tablets, and some mobile phones have this feature. It is very convenient and allows you to connect to the internet almost anywhere, not just where the cables are laid. Today, you can access the network, for example, being in the park for a walk across the street or in an airport lounge. The main thing that was available near the point of Wi-Fi.
Just like the wireless signals themselves, the EMFs can pass through walls.Most routers are not turned off at night, so you are exposed 24/7.You are not only exposed to EMFs from your own router. To conclude Wi-Fi is very useful to access the internet connection freely. The connectivity strength on Wi-Fi is better than on hotspot. Wi-Fi can be used for online gaming, streaming videos or music or for using Mi community.
