Hello, Mi Fans!
Whilst Android is designed to pack its RAM with apps in order to provide the fluid experience, it's also true that in practice not every app will behave ideally while in the background and might waste the available resources in your system. Unlike vanilla Android, MIUI comes with a pre-installed solution to deal with these rogue apps. As a matter of fact, MIUI has this feature from quite a time now which many new users fail to understand and end up downloading third party tools.
In control hierarchy, MIUI puts the user at the top, it strictly manages which app can and which app can't run on startup, also it manages apps against their background presence in RAM. Let's check how you can better manage your apps for being in background.
1. Autostart - Nectar of Immortality
If you just installed some apps and they aren't providing you real time notifications or they stop functioning after some initial minutes of locking the phone, then don't worry as this is a customizable and well-thought behavior to fill the RAM only with the apps a user wants to, unlike stock Android. All you have to do is enable the autostart entry for the app in security app.
Although a word of advice, enable it only for the apps which actually needs to be in the background as this will cost you resources like memory, CPU & battery power.
2. Lock in Recent - Regent at Front
Not every app requires to start with the system and be in the background (active or cached), this is where locking apps in recent come handy if you want to keep some of them locked temporarily. Locked apps in recent will not get closed while cleaning RAM or when the system requires extra RAM to run memory intensive apps/games.
Once you lock your phone, after some time doze (6.0+) will kick in and hence locked app in recent panel might be put on doze unlike Autostart, it then won't be able to connect to the network, receive real-time notifications or work in the background.
3. Manage Apps’ Behavior While Battery Saver is ON
If you are using MIUI battery saver then you must have noticed some of the apps misbehaving. This is because turning on battery saver will put all the apps on by default rule which is ‘recommended settings of MIUI battery saver’ and some apps might need the exception for all the good reasons. All we have to do is put those specific apps on ‘no restrictions’ rule
That's it for now folks! Long time users of MIUI must be knowing about this for sure, so did you know? Or do you have something of your own to share, why not write in the comments below?
What about the app with accessibility service, it gets closed how do I manage it?
If any app has accessibility service and its getting forced closed, then enable autostart for the app - the service belongs to.
How do I unlock the app in recent?
