Xiaomi is all setto launch its Mi Max phablet at an event in New Delhi on June30. Along with the phablet, the company will also unveil the globalversion of its custom UI, the MIUI 8, which is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.The MIUI 8 interface brings a host of new features along withredesigned interface, bug fixes and stability improvements.
The MIUI 8 comes witha new wallpaper carousel with high-quality lock screen wallpapers from 50 mediapartners. There is also a new revamped Gallery app, which now lets users addfilters, crop images and includes video editing tools too. It alsoincludes an advanced calculator app that lets you convert live currencies, temperaturefrom degrees to Fahrenheit and vice-versa, and other conversions too.
There is a new Notes app,which can be secured using a password or fingerprint. Xiaomi has alsoadded text message filter feature in MIUI 8, which warns users about phishingor suspicious fraud messages. Lastly, there is also a power saving mode, whichfreezes background apps, thus saving some amount of battery life.
The MIUI 8 DeveloperROM is already out for those who want to try it out. It supports most of theXiaomi smartphones such as the Mi 2, Mi 2s,Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4c, Mi4s and Mi 5. The ROM is also compatible with Redmi and Noteseries smartphones.
Xiaomi Mi Max specifications,features: The phablet hasalready been launched in China and features a 6.44-inch full HD (1080p)display. There are three variants of the phablet. The 32GB storage + 3GB of RAMvariant is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 SoC, whereas the 64GB storage +3GB of RAM and 128GB storage + 4GB of RAM variants are powered by Snapdragon652 SoC.
In terms of camera,the Mi Max comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and LED flash, and a5-megapixel selfie camera. Armed with 4,850mAh battery and Quick Chargesupport, connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi802.11ac, GPS and Bluetooth. The phablet runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallowwrapped under MIUI 8.
In China, pricing ofthe Mi Max starts at 1,499 Yuan (Rs 15,300 approximately) and goes all the wayup to 1,999 Yuan (Rs 20,500 approximately). Right now, there is no word on theIndia pricing of the smartphone.
