Xiaomi, the Chinese technology maker, launched the Mi Mix mobile last year at Beijing University of Technology. This is a device that was not leaked at all (which is something quite difficult to achieve these days on the internet), so its innovative design took the public by surprise when it was made its official release. Due to the success it had and, as expected, the company decided to market a successor. That is why, has recently launched the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 (Soon in India) as a sequel to this series of cell phones without bevels.

All along, the company was silently preparing Mi Mix 2, a top exponent of its iconic phone. This recent update of their Mix series made them feel more secure. The experience makes the difference and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 let you see the work and the improvement that the company had, you could say that they are getting closer to making the "ideal mobile". However, what do we know of this device that we have not mentioned already? Hundreds of weekly articles are posted on it to make updates and further details available. For its part, we are not far behind and we decided to share a disassembly of this new mobile to discover how the Mi Mix 2 is inside.
Let's start at the beginning: Unboxing

As we all know, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 comes in a pretty black box with the "Mi" logo in the center, in a gold that gives a very elegant touch.

Upon opening the box, we find that it continues to follow just as amazingly as the deck. The cell phone, USB cable and power adapter are delicately placed in compartments; in addition, a business card in the same colors black and gold.

After the first impression, we proceed to review each of the items that come in the package: mobile, USB cable, power adapter, user manual, SIM needle, USB adapter for 3.5mm headphones.
A review of the most outstanding: Design and screen

The back cover is ceramic, which gives it an improved texture compared to its predecessor, in addition to a striking mirror-like finish.

There is no doubt that one of the most outstanding and original things of the back are those golden letters that, by a simple sentence, make clear all the effort that Xiaomi placed in this device.
We can observe that the back cover protrudes a little, approximately 1mm, without being too abrupt or annoying to the user. Not to be overlooked is the characteristic gold ring that surrounds the main chamber. Below this, the fingerprint detector, which many are not accustomed at first but then becomes an indispensable wonder.

The edges of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 are rounded, especially in the corners. In this version, these are non-ceramic, are manufactured based on an aluminum alloy to not compromise the integrity of the phone and ensure its strength.

If we talk about the front, only when we see it is very clear that concept of "full screen" or "mobile without bezels." The 5.99 inches of the screen have nothing to envy to generations of smartphones with 6.44. In fact, the 18: 9 ratio of this allows better grip and comfort when handling with one hand.

One detail that is considered negative and did not like much of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is the black border on the screen and the metallic frame around it.

At the top of the screen, the handset is in the same place as its predecessor, using a conventional diaphragm speaker, so the experience is the same as on an ordinary mobile.

Let's get down to work: Disassembly process

1- Turn off the phone

  • The back cover is secured with snaps and tags.
2- The suction cups are used to separate the back cover

3- Using labels as a lever, carefully separate the cover. Once this is done, open the back cover.

  • The fingerprint sensor is attached to the motherboard, connected to the motherboard via a cable.

4- Remove the 10 fixing screws from the deflector in the upper area.

5- Remove the deflector.

  • The baffle not only behaves like a motherboard holder, it also has the flash, the phone's connection contacts and acts as a radiofrequency antenna.
6- Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable, and then remove the back cover.

  • As already mentioned, it is manufactured in a very sophisticated way with ceramic material.
  • It has integrated the modules of the NFC Antenna and the sensor of fingerprint.
  • It also has thermal labels that are fixed to the central frame through stickers and brooches.

  • Above all, it has an orderly appearance, with no clogging wires.
  • It has a design divided into 3 zones: at the top, the motherboard; in the middle, the battery; on the bottom, the base plate.

7- Disconnect the cable that is connected to the motherboard and remove the screw that secures it to the mobile.

8- Remove the motherboard.

11- Disconnect the motherboard from the cable that connects it to the motherboard and the light-conducting cable.

12- Remove the panel.

  • It has an integrated C-type interface.
13- Remove the battery by pulling the protruding plastic.

The screen of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is fixed to the front shell and it was not made of ceramic but of metallic material, which makes mass production and cost control easier. The design of the front shell of this device is more rounded, has good grip, but the edge is slightly thicker and the overall extent of the black screen looks a little broad.

Arrangement and introduction to the components of the motherboard

The Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM, 128GB and 256GB are considered the key elements when it comes to the hardware of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and are undoubtedly part of one of the largest hardware configurations Android. The PM8998 and the PMI8998, dual power supplies and power supply.

The SMB1381 is Qualcomm and currently the most advanced load chip, supports fast 9V 2A load. The WI-FI chip used is the WCN3990, supports 2 × 2 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 and superior technology. It supports the vast majority of 4G bands in a vast number of countries where RF circuit design requirements are strict.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Disassembly Report
  • Indeed, the material of the back cover of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is ceramic and the texture is very solid and resistant.
  • The radio frequency antenna and NFC coil integrated above the protective cover use contact connections because they support many band frequencies. The design of the antenna is a bit complicated.
  • The internal structure has a design divided into 3 zones: motherboard, battery and bottom plate. Such a design of structure in the telephone propitiates to the investigation, development and repair.
  • The front casing is of metallic material and has the backplane of the display module in an integrated design. The housing is rounded and has four points where it is interrupted: due to the injection molding process and the upper and lower part where they are radiofrequency antennas.

Disassembly of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2: Summary

Undoubtedly, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is one of the biggest exponents of the full screen this year. This is because this concept is out of series and very well updated in this terminal.

If we compare the Mi Mix 2 with its predecessor, it improved in terms of the criticism it had about the problem of the headset and its sound quality. We can differentiate the use of conventional handsfree. They reduced the size of the screen to a ratio of 18: 9 and 5.99 inches, which is more comfortable to handle with one hand. They left the ceramic edges (in this version) to use a metallic material, this allows greater mass production and reduces manufacturing costs. The fully made ceramic version is useful for exploring and investigating the new pottery that can be used to enhance this series of mobiles.

If the Xiaomi Mi Mix was a full-screen test seed, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is obviously a superior and much more mature version of it.
