Hello Mi Fans!
It's been a quite sometime since Android Oreo has been rolled out to Mi A1 users, being a stock android device it does retain the features directly from Google’s build.
Google has worked to improve the App icons as Materialised with Android N and with Android O a new option called Adaptive Icons is introduced which will change the supported app icons to the user selected mode.
Different android skins use their own shape of app icons which resembles their customisation, many users would love change the app icons which the OEM offers them and Android Adaptive Icon is the feature which does that by using the Android Oreo APIs (API level 26 and above)
Adaptive Icons feature is hidden by default from the general user, so please to use this feature with caution.
Tap and hold on empty space in your homescreen and select Settings
How can I enable the Adaptive Icons option :
You can easily unlock the feature by turning on the Developer Options
To enable Developer options go to Settings → System → About Phone → Tap 7 times continuously on the build number.
After enabling the developer options tap and hold on the empty space on homescreen and select Settings to change the icon shapes.
By default circular icons are Pixel Launcher, you can change them into three other shapes ( Square , Squircle , Teardrop )
1. Default or Circle icon shape :
2. Square(d) Icons :
3. Squircle(d) Icons :
4. Teardrop shaped Icons :
Some of App icons are not changed after changing from Adaptive Icons.
App developers need to make changes to their app icons to support the feature.
I don't want to keep developer options enabled in my device, how can I use this feature?
Once you set your desired app icon style you can turn off the developer options by going to Settings → System → Developer Options → turn them off. If you wish to change the icons again you will need to enable developer options.
