Xiaomi is out to take over the TV market in India with the Mi TV 4a, and Samsung and Sony should be very concerned by BGR
The reason why Samsung, Sony and every other manufacturer that sells TVs in India should be worried is simple: whether you ask someone in the tech reporting industry such as me, or a regular person looking to buy a new TV, the math is straightforward. These TVs are priced competitively enough to take on the established affordable champions, and capable enough to make the premium high-quality options look ridiculously overpriced. Xiaomi isn’t just undercutting the competition by a few thousand rupees; we’re talking significant price differences.

Not only are the Mi TV 4A LED television models aggressively priced, they also offer quality experience, which is an icing on the cake. The Mi TV models – 4 with 55-inch display and 4A with 32-inch, 43-inch displays – come preloaded with PatchWall UI that is an Android-based platform built by Xiaomi. The USP of PatchWall is its interface that offers a collective experience of all the inputs such as DTH/ cable TV, Internet, and USB drives into a single screen. Xiaomi fetches the content from apps such as YouTube, Voot, Hotstar, Sony Liv, and Alt Balaji among others, in addition to the programmes from your cable provider.
Xiaomi India Launches Mi TV 4A Smart TVs With PatchWall UI by Android Headlines
Xiaomi is expanding its smart TV portfolio in India, the company just announced two new TVs in that South Asian country, targeting the budget segment. The two Mi TV 4A models measure 32-inches and 43-inches and are positioned below the 55-inch 4K Mi TV 4 which launched last month. Both of them support smart features using Xiaomi’s proprietary PatchWall UI running over Android OS that works as a content aggregator to pull media content from all the pre-loaded apps and DTH/cable TV, and arrange it under specially curated categories based on user’s preference. The 55-inch Mi TV 4, that has already witnessed quite a few such flash sales since its launch, got sold-out within minutes of going up for sale, and a similarly overwhelming response is expected for the two new budget offerings as well. Besides the PatchWall UI, the Mi TV 4A also borrows the 11-button Bluetooth-based remote controller from the Mi TV 4.
