Hi Mi Fans,
Xiaomi has recently launched Redmi 5 in India which is an upgrade of last year's best selling compact smartphone Redmi 4. Redmi 4 was a popular device in budget-range with an amazing build quality and performance. In this thread, we will discuss about the quality features of Redmi 5.
The first thing which is changed in Redmi 5 is the introduction of reinforced corners which reduces the damage or the impacts on the display during a drop. If we drop our phone accidentally, these reinforced corners will protect your phone from screen damage. In a budget device, by introducing flagship grade features, Redmi 5 becomes the powerful Redmi ever.
Reliability tests for durability
Like all flagship devices, Xiaomi has done a lot of durability tests for all new Redmi 5 like structure and accessory durability tests, realistic environment simulations and many more.
Structure and Accessory Durability Tests
These tests are done on the device to test the quality of the structure or the mainframe and the accessories side which is like headphone jacks, power port etc. The main tests in the category include Headphone jack Lifespan Test ( 5000 times), SD card Test ( 2000 times), SIM card Test ( 2000 times), USB port Test ( both Manual and Autotest and result was 10,000 times), Drop Tests ( results in above table ) and Roller Test.
Realistic Environment Simulations
These tests include hot and cold rotations ( rotates between -45 to 80-degree Celsius for 48 hours), temperature and humidity tests and finally dust test. Here is a video of the durability tests which was used in the early flagship Mi 4i.
Dual Pyrolytic Graphite Sheet
The back panel of Redmi 5 is built using dual pyrolytic graphite sheet which we saw is recently seen on new Xiaomi smartphones. Pyrolytic graphite sheet is a heat spreading material with a high thermal conductivity and it is also lightweight and highly flexible. To know more about pyrolytic graphite sheet you can check out this thread. With 2 pyrolytic graphite sheet, the temperature is reduced by 2 degree celsius. So the phone remains sufficiently cool even during graphic intensive game plays like Asphalt 8.
Customized New Power Adapter for India
Redmi 5 is having all new 5V/2A Power adapter which withstands up to 380V. This power adapter is specially designed for all our customers from India where voltage levels can fluctuate.
